Red Lion Hotel

This hotel does what it says on the tin! It’s right in the centre and close to pubs and restaurants. You are warned about mouse from the surrounding area, but we stayed in room 32 on third floor and wasn’t disturbed. Tea & Coffee in room. Hairdryer on request. Free car parking. Very dated. Poor lighting in room. No sockets by bed. Comfy bed.

This is the second time I have stayed here while on business, the staff are so friendly, the room is nice and spacious and bathroom nice and clean. Location is great with a short walk to restaurants and cafes and also the large shopping centre and train station also a easy walk. My only suggestion would be a mini fridge in the room and also laundry facility would be a nice to have. The free parking is also very handy. I would definitely stay here again.

Avoid this place like the plague ! Found someone’s toenail clippings in the bathroom - also excrement on the bathroom wall ! Shower didn’t drain as it was filthy with dirt and hair ! Hair all over the carpet ! Addressed with management and promised full refund - then reneged on it ! Keep away from place unless you can put up with filth!

Great value for money

Very spacious and comfortable room. Clean and plenty of towels in a large well equipped bathroom. The only drawback was a very noisy extractor fan. Everything else was exemplary.

The staff were excellent and I loved the location given it was near city center and had many walkable nearby locations.

Simple, easy, well Located, well Priced

Was exactly what I needed.

Very cosy and old English style. Breakfast mediocre but that's what it's like at most hotels. And I have visited a lot of hotels in Europe.

So bad I got the train home and didnt stay. The room itself was very nice. The bathroom was excellent. All clean. Staff on reception lovely. The problem started at about 7 pm when the room next to mine filled up with at least 4 people who were partying. The walls are paper thin, it was as if they were in my room. At 9pm I asked to be moved to another room. All that was available was one at the front, which meant even more noise when the club opposite closed at 3am. I went back up to the room and the party in the room next door to mine (i was in number 35) was just the same. The anxiety of staying and not knowing when it was going to stop meant i had to hand my keycard back at 10pm and leave without staying the night. I hot the train home. This is a party hotel for noisy people. Dont stay there if you want to sleep. You can hear a fart through the walls. I emailed to ask for some kind of refund and heard nothing back. This noise was in no way connected to the wedding disco on the ground floor. That couldnt be heard in my room. The noise was from the room next door.

The hotel was perfect except the bed we could feel the springs in the mattress so didn’t sleep that well.

Good value stopover for a shopping trip on the way home from a weekend away. Good central location within walking distance of everything.

Handy for town centre. Quiet room on top floor. Hairdryer provided when asked. Good bathroom, large shower with toiletries.

There was a noise coming from the pipes next door all night as well as the fact that the walls are incredibly thin so was kept awake most of tie night. Wouldn’t recommend if you want a good nights sleep
