Always such a warm welcome. This hotel and the staff always go above and beyond to make you feel at home from home.

Right in the centre of Bath and easily accessible for local events. Great hotel, lovely rooms, friendly staff and great spa facilities.

We warmly welcomed upon arrival. The gentleman who took our luggages to store before check in was very thorough in his suggestions on what to do for our 24 hour visit in the area. All the front staff were warm and that really made us want to come back to Bath.

Loved everything about the hotel

A stunning hotel conveniently located in the heart of Bath. Quiet and luxurious, and a perfect escape for couples. The bedrooms are impeccably clean, very spacious, quiet and comfortable. The spa is free to access between 8-10 am and 7-9 pm. We used the spa at 7pm, as did most other residents, however it wasn't too busy and was a lovely space to unwind before dinner. The cocktail bar has a good selection of spirits and drinks, and the lounge is relaxing to to enjoy them in. Note hotel parking is £40/day (not £21 as per the advert); we paid for parking in Southgate which is safe and £18/24 hours (alternatively Park & Ride is £2/day). Overall this was a fantastic hotel and we would recommend and return.

Wonderful stay, everything was perfect

We had to walk down several corridors and up and down stairs to access our room — if you have mobility issues I would advise confirming what is required when assigned your room. Spa bath was pleasant, but spa services seemed overpriced and I had difficulty getting them to share the price list ahead of time. Tea service was fine, but not sure the value was there for the quality. Preferred to eat around town, but the canvas lounge was well-appointed. Not sure the value proposition would justify a return visit, but my stay was enjoyable.

Very professional and friendly service at the reception and concierge, thank you Kimberley. Fantastic spa and lovely room with very comfortable bed. Unfortunately, the breakfast was a let down, very limited choice of continental products, hot food had to be ordered from the waiter. I had to chase after one, instead of them coming over to me with the menu, which I didn’t even know they had any. If it wasn’t for my partner who got to the breakfast before me, I wouldn’t have known about hot food menu, so had to improvise and asked for typical English breakfast items. The food quality was a let down, I expected something special for £35 per person breakfast. Coffee wasn’t best either. Breakfast service was very poor and the food was ok nothing special. I will definitely stay in this hotel again but won’t be having a breakfast. Can’t comment on dinner in the restaurant as ate elsewhere. All in all, a wonderful experience and highly recommend staying.

The thermal spa is absolutely stunning, with a series of warm and cool pools that feel incredibly rejuvenating. I particularly enjoyed the infrared sauna, which offered a more gentle heat and left me feeling completely relaxed. The serene atmosphere of the spa made it easy to unwind, and I appreciated the thoughtful little touches like chilled water and plush towels throughout. The room itself was beautifully designed—elegant yet cosy, with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, and the attention to detail in the decor really enhanced the overall experience. I would highly recommend the Gainsborough Spa Hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing getaway in Bath. It’s the perfect combination of indulgence and charm, and I will definitely be returning.

Beautiful hotel and staff are excellent as always. Due to heavy rain there was a leak in the room and they changed it instantly, one of the ladies at the reception was being a bit awkward when we mentioned the size of the room but they gave us a little hamper to make up for it. It was very thoughtful. I would definitely visit again, I have been there a few times now with my family who have visited my from India. The spa area was a bit busier than usual but that could be due to the time of the year. I highly recommend this hotel, its location, rooms, service is perfect! One of the best hotels in the Uk.

I've stayed at the Gainsborough a number of times over the years, and it has been my go to place in Bath owing to its fantastic location, and previously excellent service. The spa area was an added bonus, with use of the facilities. However, I've noticed a gradual decline, notably since Covid. The spa area became more restricted, and now use for hotel stays have been limited to two hour windowns either side of the day. These times therefore, get pretty busy and just feel a little restrictive. The spa itslef has also gotten notably more expensive. This is probably on account of the included use of the spa area, but has been priced quite prohibitively for those looking just for a massage. The room cleanliness was also a little less than expected. We found a big empty bag of crisps behind the curtains, suggesteing cleaning between guests is far from thorough.

What an amazing hotel - bang in the middle of Bath, prestigious, andxwhen you take into account access to the Spa, the breakfast and complimentary goodies, this is an amazing 5 star experience at great value. We will be bsck next year with family!

The hotel and spa were lovely and use of the spa was complimentary as part of the stay. However when we arrived we found that complimentary use was early morning at the time ( you would typically have breakfast ) and in the evening ( at the time you would have dinner ) so basically free access was at incovenient times and use of spa at all other times was not free. This really felt like a rip off given the amount we had paid and none of this information was made available when I made the booking to my knowledge.
