Hôtel Mercure Valenciennes Centre

Beds are MUCH TOO HARD. They feel like sleeping on the floor. Totally unacceptable.

Two things let this stay down. The first was a leaking toilet and constant sound of running water as the flush mechanism had broken and kept me up most of the night. The second I had limited time for breakfast and when I arrived many of the food dishes were empty (bacon and scrambled eggs etc.) and the wait delayed my schedule.

The location is central and close to many restaurants. Rooms are spacious and clean.

The location is good, and the staff helpfulness and friendliness was super! The rooms were and very clean. An overall very good experience.

Was a really nice stay. The front reception staff were very helpful, allowing a late-checkout and even helped provide french/english plug converters. The rooms are a nice size and organised in a very modern way. It's a long walk from the train station...perhaps 12 minutes or so...but well worth it. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

Modern hotel in ideal location at the centre of Valciennes. The rooms are clean and bed comfortable. The service is of a high standard. Would definitely recommend.

The bed was very comfortable and ‘super king size’. The bedroom wall was well finished- not something I usually comment about , but if you have any interest in interiors, you’ll find a modern concrete finish with embossed designs. I love well finished concrete! So a classy hotel in a great part of town.

Very friendly and helpful staff, quick check-in/check-out, clean room, spacious room, great amenities, quiet. Very happy with my stay. I would recommend it.

The familiarity of a Mecure hotel (simple, modern European design) with the warm and helpful staff at Valenciennes made this a ideal place to stay the night. The rooms are clean, simple and all you need for a comfortable nights stay. Didn’t have drink at bar or dinner but breakfast was very good with delicious buffet options. Walking distance to some good bars/restaurants too!

We arrive very late but the staff were amazing,very helpful and dedicated to make us feel good. The facility of the hotel were top quality.

20 mins walk from the hotel in a central location with shops, restaurants and sites all nearby this hotel is in a great location. The hotel is modern so everything is well maintained and fresh looking. Our room was on the fourth floor and had a small balcony with a view of the cathedral - very nice. The room was a reasonable size and the bed was comfortable and clean. Nice big shower with just enough power. Towels are very thin and cheap feeling. Staff were curt and either unfriendly or they would just ignore us. This would be a great hotel for a business trip or city break, we were watching Paris Roubaix bike race and it fit our requirements perfectly. Not somewhere I would think of for a romantic break or family holiday though.

A great hotel, extremely nice room with also very friendly and helpful staff. Only negative was no on sight parking but otherwise was a great hotel.

We had a very nice stay at this hotel which is in a very central location just minutes on foot to plenty of bars and restaurants. Parking was easy on the local streets but it's only free at weekends. The staff here were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast selection more than adequate. Only negative was that the air conditioning was very difficult to control so the room was rather hot at night. We did open the patio door to let in some air but it wasn't ideal due to barking dogs etc. The restaurant next door was lovely and does great food.

The hotel is located in a nice area,next to a small shopping centre and many restaurants. The rooms are clean, but lack some basic items in the rooms, like real glasses and coffee cups. All they provide are cheap plastic cups. The beds in the standard room are not so comfortable, the better rooms are the privileged rooms, but even in those you still don't get a real coffee mug. The staff are very friendly and speak very basic English, but they were very helpful all along. If you are driving, there is no parking, but you can park for free on the street from 6:30pm to 9am. Overall is a great value, you can get great deals through hotels.com which includes breakfast.

Just a stopover between Luxembourg and Le Havre = but I had time for a little wander around - nice place.

The hotel was not so easy to find because of the one streets, however it's a very nice modern hotel. The room was interesting as at first you're not sure where everything is but that's part of the fun. The hire is well located close to bars and restaurants.

If you need to be in Valenciennes, this is the hotel to stay in. Almost brand new, and in the middle of town.

Modern, clean building. Modern rooms with excellent facilities. A proper double bed. Helpful staff.
