Good service staff, very clean room, received good assistance, easy to travel.

The service was great. The hotel arranged a baby cot in short notice and helped us sending luggage to another hotel in Tokyo with ease. Room is nice and clean. Highly recommend! Only short fall is the hotel does not provide parking for the stay.

As a frequent traveler to Japan, I have always admired the exceptional hospitality the country is known for. However, my experience at The Gate Hotel Ryogoku was profoundly disappointing due to unprofessionalism, poor judgment, and invasive policies. In May, after traveling for over a month, I felt unwell and requested ginger from the kitchen. I was told they had none. After buying my own ginger, I asked the staff to grate it and requested honey from the buffet I had used previously. Both requests were denied, citing my lack of a breakfast-inclusive reservation. Even when I brought my tea to the buffet to add honey myself, I was refused. During my recent stay, I was informed that any request for honey would incur a charge, though no one could specify the amount. Such rigid and illogical behavior was frustrating. Additionally, I always display the “Do Not Disturb” sign to protect my valuables and maintain privacy, leaving my room clean and organized. I was told the hotel now reserves the right to enter my room regardless of the sign. This policy is an unacceptable invasion of privacy and undermines trust. Finally, a staff member fluent in English who initially offered assistance later redirected me to management,( under the excuse that it was not permitted to her), creating unnecessary communication barriers. This inconsistency, combined with the lack of empathy and respect, ensures I will not return. The Gate Hotel Ryogoku has forgotten the principles of hospitality.

Highly recommended if you want a quiet place away from the main city but right next to the train station so you can get anywhere. Everyone there was very helpful. The only thing I’d say is my room was quite dusty but that was taken care of on request. I’d like to see a bit more attention to detail but the rest of my stay was great. I will let anyone who likes soft beds, be prepared for a traditional Japan firmness aka the ground. I’d recommend. You also should get the breakfast as each day it’s made fresh and really good.

Beautiful hotel with view of adjacent river. Staff was very helpful even with somewhat limited English. Food in restaurant was very good with big portions.

Nice hotel

Great location, it's just minutes of walk away from JR station, easy access to kombini, local restaurants, and just one station away from major shopping area and supermarket. The hotel itself is great, it's new and clean, with comfortable beds and modern interior design. Staff are great, they had no problem with English. The only thing that I would like to see is self-serve laundry. That would make our 5 night stay much better.

Our new favorite hotel to stay in Tokyo. The location is prefect right next to the train station, food, sumo venue and the beautiful river. The room/suite was incredibly quiet and spacious. Our room faced the river with panoramic views. The staff were friendly and polite! The restaurant (anchor) delicious. I recommend the scallops and mushroom dish. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended booking here!!

The view by the river is amazing. Super chill and relaxed at night.

Our second time staying at The Gate Hotel Ryogoku. Very peaceful area, but within a short train ride or walk to plenty of interesting sites. Very close to the JR station. Spacious and Clean rooms with a large bathroom and a great view of the Sumida River.

The place was very clean and stylish. The location was pretty convenient in terms of access to subways. It takes about 30min to Shinjuku or Shibuya. You can walk to Asakusa along the river which was very nice. Also the breakfast was very tasty. They only had western style breakfast plus little buffet. There is always one kind of pasta and one kind of soup which was so yummy, at some point i didnt even order the breakfast dish they offer and just went for the buffet. I had a great time here. Everyone was very professional, nice and helpful.

Great place by Sumida river, close to JR station. Not super crowded except when there are sumo events. Breakfast buffet was super yummy

Staff and hotel are lovely. We really did not appreciate how good we had it here before touring the rest of Japan. This has been the only liveable sized room we stayed in, it has definitely outshined it’s competitors.

Very modern hotel near Ryogoku station, only within few mins walk. Hotel is next to the river, it should be a very lovely area to walk around if the weather was more cooler! The twin room is very spacious, clean. We only stayed for 1 night and didn’t have time to explore the nearby museum and stadium.

The staff at this hotel are fantastic, breakfast and dinner were outstanding and very clean. It would have been very helpful if there was a gym and a laundry facility

The Sumida river view was constantly bombarded by train and street traffic. View was ok, but noise of the subway was very noticeable. The laundry service was nonexistent, especially on the weekend. Had to go to laundromat 20 minutes away, and no supplies. The plus side was easy access to watch some sumo matches during some tournament being held that Sunday.

The nicest hotel we have ever stayed in. Staff were friendly and and excellent, hotel is lovely and the restaurant was amazing quality. Great hotel.
