a very comfortable hostel to stay. it's just a minute from padang Kota lama (city esplanade). this hostel is one of the best hotel in the surroundings. I'd like to recommend this place to all of my friends. amazing moment to stay in!

General Check-in Instructions

Effective from 1st Sept 2017, mandatory tourism tax of MYR 10 per room per night is applied to all foreign guests. This tax is excluded from the room rate and must be paid upon check-in. Guests with a valid Malaysian Identity Card or valid permanent residents MY PR Card are exempted. Upon check-in, hotel Front Desk will collect from guests MYR 2.00 Local Government Fee per room per night (imposed by Penang Government starting from 1st June 2014). This fee is excluded from room rates. For comfort of all guests, hotel strictly forbid guest from smoking in the property. Alternatively, guest can smoke outside of the property (public area). Hotel may charge you additional fee for each extra person after reserves room’s maximum occupancy. Any availability of extra bed or baby crib is subject to availability. All special request such as early check-in, late check-out etc are strongly subject to availability. You are advised to liaise with hotel directly at least 24 hours before arrival for special arrangement.

I think it's okay for a short stopover. But for a long stay, you might want to consider it again. As for access to public facilities (bus/ferry terminals, places of worship, restaurants), it's quite good.

I stayed at Red Inn Court Penang at a fairly cheap price for the Georgetown, Penang area. In terms of service, I was very satisfied because the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel location is also strategic, making it easy to access various tourist attractions and culinary around Georgetown. The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable, although I got a room on the 3rd floor (top), which was quite tiring because I had to climb the stairs. But considering this is a budget hotel, I didn't really mind it. One thing that is less comfortable is that this hotel is not soundproof. Because the floor is made of wood and the walls are made of plywood, the sound of people's footsteps passing by can be heard very clearly. However, overall, I felt at home here and this hotel is still a decent choice for travelers on a budget.

The check-in process was fast and yesterday we were able to check in early.

The hotel is on the side of the road near the Indian area. Next to it there is a food stall and mini market. The room is quite spacious and has air conditioning and a large fan. The bathroom, although outside, is also clean. It's just a bit difficult to go up because there are only stairs as access. The stairs are not too wide so those carrying suitcases have to be extra strong. Yesterday I checked out at 6 am and was still served.

Close to the mosque, close to the city center, close to everywhere, close to the ferry port, very highly recommended, cleanliness is also maintained, the toilets are also clean, for free breakfast there is bread with tea or coffee and watermelon, the receptionist who is a fat woman and a brother who often guards at night are very friendly.

The room is somewhat OK to rest. As I was in Penang for sightseeing vacation, I didn't spent that much time in room. Only to sleep at night is totally fine. The shower room also OK to have a brisk shower. I must say this is quite OK for budget hotel. I love the aunty from the reception who is super friendly with all the guests. I guess I would choose this red inn court again when I visit to Penang again.

My stay at Red Inn Court Hostel was disappointing. Despite booking a 4-bed female dorm for two nights, I had to leave after just one night due to several issues. While my roommates were nice, the overall experience was below par. The noise levels were unbearable, with disturbances from people walking upstairs, snoring in nearby rooms, and loud bathroom use echoing into our dorm. Cleanliness was a significant concern; My bed was infested with bed bugs and mosquitoes, and the bedding and towels had an unpleasant smell. Visible dust and black mold on the ceiling made it hard to breathe easily. Safety was another worry; The upper bed lacked proper protection against falls, and sleeping near the noisy air conditioner was difficult. Moreover, the unhygienic conditions likely caused rashes and itching, making my stay uncomfortable. Additionally, the toilets and showers were dirty, and both hairdryers provided were non-functional. Overall, the hostel's cleanliness, noise disturbances, safety lapses, and non-functional amenities made it impossible for me to continue my stay. I hope the management takes serious action to address these issues for the sake of future guests’ comfort and well-being.

Hi Penny. Thanks for your reviews. Sorry about what happened, Since our place is located in the heart of the City, sometimes it is very noisy and we're very sorry about that. I don ' think your bed is infested with bugs and mosquitoes since it 's only 2 bed bugs on the bed, the house keeping is making sure the beds are always clean and tidy every check outs and we also sprays bed bug sprays and disinfectant in every corner of the beds and frames. Also there 's no molds at the ceiling, it 's the color itself due to old days. Also toilets and showers are being cleaned everyday, it 's just that we can't watch all day whose using and how the guests use since it 's a shared bathroom. Hairdryers are all working, you just have to ask the front desk about the adaptors, since some of the guests takes home the adaptors connected to it, we didn't put any adaptors to it and give the guests the adaptors when they asks. Also you can always ask the front desk about your concerns while your staying so they can help you and resolve the issues. We're doing our best everyday to make the hostel clean and tidy for the guests. But we will take note about this matter and take actions about this. But then again, thanks and have a nice day ahead of you!:).
