From the very moment we arrived. A very friendly doorman who greeted us with a smile and was very welcoming. Front staff were very quick and efficient, organised our room very early which we were very grateful for. Breakfast was fantastic and great options. Cleanliness of the room was superb also. Very good experience and would very much recommend to anyone who wants to experience Edinburgh.

Only area for improvement is the in room heating. No control over thermostat and back up heater noisy.

Excellent choice for in town. Service and accommodations were generous, staff was helpful, property was gorgeous. WiFi was very poor and rooms at the Thistle Street side were noisy all night and morning.

Room and hotel were clean. Good walking distance to main attractions.
However, the room was noisy especially at night. Difficult to sleep when you can hear the conversations of everyone walking past the room and noise of the room next door.

If you are visiting Scotland you need to stay at this hotel. It was very walkable to all the excursion around the city such as the Edinburgh castle and the royal palace. It was a fast check in and every staff member was very nice and professional. When you leave the hotel and arrive back there is always someone there to open the door and ask about your day. The room was very spacious and had great room service. I will be returning!

We loved our stay at The George Hotel in Edinburgh. We were able to walk to the train, to Old Town, and to shopping/dining in New Town. Breakfasts were excellent. Staff were warm and gracious. Comfortable bed, thoughtful amenities and BBC Scotland on the radio. Lovely holiday decorations as well. Highly recommended.

At check in I was upsold a view to the river which was essentially a standard room with a view that was far from spectacular. All rooms have windows and I cannot imagine how the view I got was better than that of my same si de standard room. My take is that they just wanted to upsell me to increase my all in rate without delivering anything valuable in return. I am not against the concept but if you upsell you should offer something that improves the experience. This time it did not.

Heating in room did not work properly and gaps round the door, allowing freezing wind into room. Absolutely freezing at 10pm and too late to move room.

Great weekend stay in central Edinburgh! Hotel is lovely! The lounge access extra charge was well worth the money ! Every member of staff were attentive, helpful and friendly! We will be back!
