SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western Durham Medical Center

Front desk clerk was very polite at check in. The room was not very clean. The floor looked like it had never met a mop. The bathtub was gross. We were too tired to do anything else so we sprayed the bed down with alcohol and didn’t use the covers.

I did not like walking into room and finding 2 cockroaches on the floor. Hair in the bathtub and people just standing around the hallway or outdoor walkway.

Multiple knocks on our door throughout the night. Very unsafe.

Nothing likable

The hot water didn’t get hot in my room the first night. I figured I’d try again the next day and it still was barely warm. The front desk said they would let their manager know when they get here at 10:30. I also asked for a do not disturb sign yesterday and the front desk said, "they don't do that here, they do things differently" and they assured me no one would be in my room. The room next to me had a sign, however. I came back to my room Saturday and someone had been in it (I specifically requested that no one come while I'm there) The 3rd floor has smelled like marijuana since Friday. The elevator stopped working last night. I asked for assistance getting my luggage down the stairs when checking out since the elevator didn’t work and I was on the 3rd floor but the front desk apologized and said they couldn’t help.

I stayed for two nights from out of state. I got to my room and it immediately smelled like someone just smoked a cigarette/green in the room. The gentlemen that worked that night/morning was soooo great. He went above and beyond. The second night i get back and the elevator was out but that was here nor there. I get up to my room on the 3rd floor and again the extreme smell of smoke. The next morning I pack up my stuff, head to the door of my room, and there was a roach alive on the floor. Then had to drag all my luggage down three flights of stairs. The stairs were unfortunately located in the back of the building and my vehicle in the front. The lady at the front informed me I could NOT go through the lobby to my vehicle that I had to walk around the entire building. It was an extreme inconvenience and a bit of a struggle to have to drag three large bags around 75-100yds. I could go in the lobby to get breakfast the second morning but so I guess it is a security thing. I don’t know.

No working ice makers in the whole hotel - what a joke.

THIS PROPERTY IS THE WORST. ROACH INFESTED AND RUDE DESK STAFF. AND THE BREAKFAST IS ALWAYS GONE BEFORE 8. THEY DO NOT REFILL. CHARGE $20.00 FOR BOOKING ONLINE. NOT A DEPOSIT YOU DONT GET BACK. PRICE GOES UP DAILY. SAM IS RUDE. YELLS OVERTALKS AND ROLLS HIS EYES AT THE GUEST. HE TOLD A GUEST TO JUST SHUT UP OR GET OUT. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO NOONE. THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT NEEDS TO GET INVOLVED. ROACH AND SPIDER INFESTED.

Standard set of room amenities plus breakfast no lobsters alas but omelette, sausage, biscuits, waffles, coffee 3 roasts x regular/decaf, juice. Kinda a start Beds are nice , 4 great pillows on a bed. Not sure about neighborhood but Entrances to floors require room key. Inside feels safe.

When we first walked into the room -and everytime thereafter- we were hit with an overwhelming smell of stale smoke. Everytime the air conditoner kicked on all sorts of debris would blow out onto the floor and and both beds. It is supposed to be a no smoking facility yet everywhere there were cigarette butts on ledges, a dirty rolled up rag was left outside of our door for 2 days and there was something hanging off the wall in our room.

The dirty tub and toilet, roaches crawling around and gnats, floors disgusting.

The room smelled like NAIR hair removal. It was a very strong scent. It was a horrible nights sleep. The pillows were clumpy and the hallways had to be 90 degrees. It was NOT worth $90.00 a night.

It is old and creaky. The floors are suspect, the fridge doesnt work whatsoever, the television only gets two local channels and a few lower tier cable channels, completely uninteresting and non-entertaining.
