The Argo Merbabu train is a train service under the operation of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) that serves the Semarang Tawang Station-Gambir Station route through the northern route of Java Island.

The name Merbabu for this train is taken from Mount Merbabu. The mountain is located in Mount Merbabu National Park, which borders Boyolali, Magelang Regency, and Semarang.

Merbabu is currently chosen for the name of an inspection train under the ownership of the Directorate General of Railways, the Merbabu Inspection Train. This train is located at the Workshop Depot, adjacent to Ngrombo Station.

The Argo Merbabu train was officially operated on June 1, 2023, with facultative status. This train has a regular travel schedule, with morning departures from Semarang and afternoon departures from Jakarta.

Records show that the Argo Merbabu train is a connecting service for the Semarang-Jakarta route. This train has been operating since 2017 with the status “Kereta Api Argo Sindoro Tambahan."
