Argo Sindoro Train
Argo Sindoro is an executive class express train that serves the Jakarta-Semarang route and vice versa. This train originated from Argo Muria 1 train, which was first operated on May 20, 2001. Currently, Argo Sindoro operates the former 2002 Argo Muria, using the reverse route of Argo Muria. Argo Sindoro is part of Semarang Operational Area 4. The train runs from Semarang Tawang Station to Gambir Jakarta Station, back and forth. The train travels once a day between these two cities. It covers a distance of 460 km in the average duration of 6 hours.
Especially for Semarang Tawang Station-Gambir Train Station trip, Argo Sindoro train uses train number 11. The Argo Sindoro number 11 has morning schedule, which departs at 06:00 AM from Semarang Tawang Station and arrives at 12:00 PM at Gambir Jakarta Station. During the trip, the train will stop at four stations before arriving at the final stop. The four stations are Pekalongan, Tegal, Cirebon, and Jatinegara. On the contrary, Argo Sindoro number 12 will travel from Jakarta to Semarang. The departure time from Gambir Station is 16:15 PM. After passing three other stations (Cirebon Station, Tegal Station, and Pekalongan Station), Argo Sindoro 12 will arrive at Semarang Tawang Station at 22:15 PM.
Regarding ticket prices, Argo Sindoro offers a range of 255,000 IDR-310,000 IDR per person, depending on the seating position, subclass, and travel time. The subclasses are grouped by seating position and consist of Executive J, Executive I, Executive H, and Executive A. The more strategic seating position, the higher the ticket price will be.
Regarding service, Argo Sindoro provides carriage with 50-seats capacity, arranged on the 2-2 position. Each seat can be rotated, and its backrest can be repositioned. Argo Sindoro provides a sofa seating facility completed with pillows, reading lamps, armrests, footrests, folding tables, drinks bins, and electric plugs. Other supporting facilities are toilets, air conditioners, TVs, and food service in every car.

The Origin of Its Name
Argo Sindoro took its name from Mount Sindoro. Mount Sindoro is an active volcano in Temanggung District, Central Java. This mountain has a height of 3,150 meters above sea level and can be seen from the peak of Sikunir, Dieng.
Special Route
Besides serving the main routes of Semarang-Jakarta and vice versa, Argo Sindoro also serves Semarang-Tegal and Cirebon-Jakarta routes. Specifically for those routes, special rates are applied and can only be booked at the station counter no sooner than two hours before departure. Ticket fare for Semarang-Tegal route and vice versa is 80,000 IDR, while for the Cirebon-Jakarta and vice versa route is 150,000 IDR.
Train History
Initially, the Argo Sindoro train used the Argo Anggrek circuit. Argo Anggrek itself is the highest executive class Argo train in Java Island. At the end of 2011, Argo Sindoro couldn’t use the Argo Anggrek train due to technical problems and switched to the Argo Muria and Harina spare trains. Since June 2015, Argo Sindoro once again used the former Bogie K9 executive train of Argo Bromo Anggrek, after going through a total rehabilitation process at PT. Inka, Madiun.
Train Series
The Argo Sindoro train is currently using the former 2001 Argo Muria executive train. The series consists of one locomotive, eight Argo executives cars, one dining car, and one generator train.
