Joglosemarkerto Train

The Joglosemarkerto train is an executive and economic AC plus train operated by PT Kereta Api Indonesia in Java that serves the Solo - Yogyakarta - Purwokerto - Semarang ring route and vice versa.

The total distance covered by the train going around the railway tracks in the Central Java region is 579 km with a total travel time of 11 hours 25 minutes. When viewed from the sign board, this train is also commonly called the Kamandaka Train specifically for the Semarang - Purwokerto route.

The train, which was inaugurated on December 1, 2018, aims to merge the two existing train services, namely Kamandaka and Joglokerto. This was done to simplify services while increasing the occupancy of the Yogyakarta - Semarang route without the need to transit or replace other trains at Purwokerto and Solo Balapan Stations.

Even though it is merged, this train has nothing to do with Kamandaka, Joglokerto or Joglosemar; all three are separate services.

For fare or train ticket prices, Joglosemarkerto is divided into various groups. Fares are adjusted according to distance traveled and type of train service, executive class or economy class.

• Solo–Yogyakarta: executive Rp 56.000 and economy Rp 32.000.
• Solo–Kutoarjo: executive Rp 84.000 and economy Rp 48.000.
• Solo–Kroya via Yogyakarta: executive Rp 105.000 and economy Rp 60.000.

Origin of Name

The name of the Joglosemarkerto train is short for Jogja-Solo-Semarang-Purwokerto. The name Joglosemarkerto also wants to explain that this train connects cities in Central Java to the south and north, as well as Yogyakarta.

Train History

Although there are trains serving the Semarang-Solo (Kalijaga), Solo-Purwokerto (Joglokerto), and Purwokerto-Semarang (Kamandaka) routes, the intensity of train travel is still relatively small. Most of the passengers also had to transit before in the main stations in Central Java. Due to the high demand for this route, PT KAI then created a new service to accommodate train services in the Yogyakarta-Purwokerto-Tegal-Semarang-Solo routes in a circle format. The name Joglosemarkerto began to be echoed in mid-November 2018 until now.

Joglosemarkerto Train has 3 train lines, each consisting of 2 executive trains and 7 economy trains. The total number of passengers this train can carry on each trip is 660 passengers. These train facilities include air conditioning, toilets, suitcases, electric plugs and hangers.
