Information About Cikini Station

Cikini Station (CKI) is a train station located at Greater Cikini Street, Cikini, Menteng, Central Jakarta. Automatically, Cikini Station was included in Operation Area (DAOP) I Jakarta. Before the 1960s, Cikini Station had a tram track that branched off to the tram depot in Kramat. 

Apart from that, Cikini Station also has a track that leads to the opium factory which is close to the current RSCM. It’s also close to the fertilizer factory on Gunung Sahari Industry Street, meanwhile, the PN Gas factory is in Ketapang, and the warehouse area is in Asemka.

At the end of the 80s year, there was a train stop called Pegangsaan between Cikini Station and Manggarai Station, located on the north side of Diponegoro Street. This bus stop was no longer used in the 1990s when the elevated railway was built between Manggari and Jakarta Kota.

Cikini Station can be reached easily via various public transportation including the Transjakarta City Bus with routes number 4C, 5M, and 6H. Additionally, there are Mikrotrans JAK 10 A and JAK 10 B which operate the route from Cikini Station to Gondangdia Station. This makes it easy for passengers to reach the station with simple access.

History of Cikini Station

• Adjacent to the Tram Line

Around Cikini Station, apart from the Electric Rail Train (KRL) that passes through, there is also a tram line that previously operated. The tram that operated in the Cikini area previously crossed Jalan Cikini Raya (which is now Lapangan Banteng) and connected to Juanda and Harmoni. There is also a tram that runs from Kalipasir to Tanah Abang, some of which passes through Cikini Raya. However, even though there are two choices of transportation modes that are close to each other, eventually the tram line no longer operates, and people switch to using KRL.

• Zoo Bus Stop

In the past, next to Cikini Station there was a Zoo Bus Stop which was used as a KRL stop. However, because its position was too close to Cikini Station and Gondangdia Station, the Zoo Bus Stop was considered less efficient and ultimately did not operate.

• Built as a Replacement Bus Stop

Cikini Station was built as a replacement for the Dierentuin Bus Stop by order of the Batavia City Council, which considered the location of the Dierentuin Bus Stop impractical for the development of Gondangdia and Menteng. In 1926, Staatsspoorwegen (SS) built two small bus stops in Gondangdia and Menteng under the name Tjikini. At the end of the 80s, the Pegangsaan bus stop on the north side of Jalan Diponegoro, before Manggarai Station, was demolished to build an elevated railway.
