As a tourist area, Yogyakarta certainly has very diverse transportation facilities. Visitors can get around using online transportation, TransJogja Bus, or trains. The routes are various, ranging from Solo, Semarang, and Jakarta to Surabaya.
However, there is no direct passenger train from Yogyakarta to Bogor. That way, passengers who want to visit Bogor from Yogyakarta can use the train to Jakarta and then continue the journey by using the KRL from Jakarta to Bogor Station.
Yogya has several stations that still serve local and long-distance train trips. Tugu Station Yogyakarta has hectic train trips, as is Lempuyangan Station.
In addition, several passenger train connections are served at a small station in Jogja, namely Wates Station. Since no passenger trains are available for the Yogyakarta-Bogor route, visitors can choose trains with the Yogyakarta-Jakarta relation.
Some of the trains serving the route are Jaka Tingkir, Fajar Utama Yk, Taksaka, Bangunkarta, Argo Lawu, Mataram, Bogowonto, Manahan, Progo, Argo Semeru, Gaya Baru Malam Selatan, Senja Utama Yk, Senja Utama Solo, Jayakarta, Gajayana, Gajahwong, and many more.
There are various class options, ranging from economy executive to compartment, with prices and facilities varying depending on the chosen class.
If you depart from Jogja to Bogor via Jakarta, here are the stations that can be used as departure points:
Yogyakarta Station, also known as Tugu Station, with an altitude of +113 meters above sea level, is a prominent type A station in Sosromenduran, Gedongtengen, Yogyakarta City. This station is included in the scope of DAOP VI Yogyakarta.
Tugu Station is the most crowded intercity train station outside the Jabodetabek area, serving 58 round trips daily. As a large station, the facilities include restaurants, parking areas, rest areas, worship facilities, toilets, and even minimarkets.
One of the highlights of Yogyakarta Station is the presence of two locomotive monuments on the east and south sides. The memorial at the east entrance is a portable steam engine or locomotive made by Marshall Britannia, Great Britannia. Initially, this monument was in the center of the station entrance, but now it has been moved to the north side of the road.
Meanwhile, the monument on the south side is a D301 22 hydraulic diesel locomotive that has been on display since December 12, 2018, after the renovation of the entire station was completed.
Lempuyangan Station, which is at an altitude of +114 meters above sea level, is located in Bausasran, Danurejan, Yogyakarta. This is a prominent type B station operated by DAOP VI Yogyakarta and KAI Commuter and acts as the central station beside Tugu Station.
Lempuyangan Station and mixed-class intercity train trips from the central and southern Java crossings, agglomerations, and KRL Yogyakarta serve the economy. Although classified as a type B station, the facilities available at Lempuyangan Station are no less complete than Tugu Station, and it is straightforward to access via public transportation, TransJogja buses, and online services.
Located at an altitude of +18 meters above sea level, Wates Station is a class II railway station situated on Jalan Stasiun Wates, Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta. This station is included in DAOP VI Yogyakarta, KAI Commuter, and Airport Train. Various access points can be used to reach Wates Station. Although the facilities at this station are not as complete as the previous two significant stations, they are still quite broad.
Meanwhile, there are only two stations that serve train travel in Bogor, namely:
Bogor Station (BOO), called Station Buitenzorg during the Dutch colonial era, is a large class A railway station located on Jalan Nyi Raja Permas, Cibogor, Central Bogor, Bogor City. At an elevation of +246 meters, the station belongs to the Jakarta Operation Area I and is the southernmost station managed by KAI Commuter in Jabodetabek.
Located west of Bogor City Square with a view of Bogor Palace, the station serves the KRL Commuter Line. This station is the end station or terminus for the Jabodetabek KRL route. The facilities are diverse, from shopping outlets, restaurants, toilets, places of worship, and ticket tap machines to ATM outlets.
Bogor Paledang Station (BOP) is a class III/small railway station located in Paledang, Central Bogor, Bogor City, West Java. The station, situated at an altitude of +246 meters, is included in the Jakarta Operation Area I. It is a new station built in 2012 and inaugurated on November 9, 2013, along with the start of the Pangrango train operation.
The distance from Yogyakarta to Bogor is about 591.9 kilometers and can be reached in approximately 8 hours by land vehicle. If using Jabodetabek KRL, Bogor Station is the end station, previously Cilebut Station.
Meanwhile, Lempuyangan Station stops before Tugu Jogja Station, after which is Wates Station. Most morning and evening train trips for this route can be adjusted to the choice of trains heading to Jakarta.
