Siliwangi Train
Siliwangi Train is one of the newest services from PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero). This train is present to serve passengers traveling from Cianjur City to Sukabumi City with the connecting route from Station Cianjur and Sukabumi Station. The Ministry of Transportation has appointed PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) to be the operator of this train since 19 February 2016.
Siliwangi Railway covers the Cianjur-Sukabumi route for 38.6 kilometers so the trip will only take about 1 hour. This train provides passenger services with a frequency of three times a day. Along the way, this train goes through several stations. The stations which are Siliwangi Train’s stopovers are Cianjur Station, Cilaku Station, Cibeber Station, Lampegan Station, Cireungas Station, Gandasoli Station, and Sukabumi Station. Train ticket fares are offered very cheaply, just like the commuter trains in the city. The rate is flat until 2017, which is only Rp3.000 per passenger. The ticket fares of Siliwangi Train can be very cheap because of the government subsidy contracts. Before the subsidy, people who wanted to travel from Cianjur to Sukabumi or vice versa, must spend Rp15.000 for Economy class and Rp35.000 for Executive class.
Currently, Economy AC class train is in the management of PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operation Area 2 Bandung. The existence of this affordable train has received a very satisfying response from residents of two cities in this relation. The presence of this service has become a solution which often becomes the congestion which hinder the citizens who would like to visit Cianjur Sukabumi, or vice versa. At first, KA Perintis Siliwangi was only planned to be available throughout the January 2016-August 2016 contract period. Towards the end of the contract, the central government announced a contract extension until 2017.
Regarding the facility, KA Siliwangi provides economy class trains with full-air passenger cars. Each carriage has also been equipped with at least one toilet that provides a toilet bowl, a sink, and a water spray. On each side of the passenger seat, a small table is available to place the glass and the outlet to charge the phone during the trip. Baggage is on the top of the seat. The train food carts are available for passengers who would like to buy food and drinks along the way.

The History of The Train
KA Siliwangi is one of the series of Commercial Trains of PT KAI (Persero). The launching of this train had lasted for four months after the inauguration of the Pangrango train that served the Bogor Station- Sukabumi Station, replacing the Geulis Train. Siliwangi train was specifically inaugurated on February 9, 2014 to serve the corridor of Sukabumi Station-Cianjur Station. In order to improve the circuit efficiency, PT. KAI (Persero) merged the series of these two trains. Since January 1, 2016, KA Siliwangi has changed its status to KA Perintis. Furthermore, KA Siliwangi has finally become a series of trains separated from Kang Pangrango since January 21, 2016.
The Train Series
In operation, KA Siliwangi carries six trains in a series. The train consists of one pulling locomotive, four Economy class passenger trains, and one meal train. This train can carry up to 472 passengers at once in one trip.
Alternative trip for the Bogor-Cianjur route or vice versa
For Bogor citizens who would like to visit Cianjur, or vice versa, then this KA Siliwangi could be an alternative transportation. Passengers simply buy tickets to take the journey by KA Siliwangi to reach Sukabumi/Cianjur first. Arriving in the city, passengers can continue the journey to Bogor by taking KA Pangrango.
