1. This Is a New Building

The Tanah Abang ERT Station was originally built by Staatsspoorwegen Westerlijnen on October, 1st, 1899. But the original building of this train station had been demolished. Then, it was replaced with a new one as you can see now.

This 2-story building was inaugurated in 1997 by the Minister of Transportation at that time. Now, it has become a new face. Moreover, the facilities and equipment are increasingly more complete, making it easier for passengers. They include a flight bridge and escalator.

At the end of October 2008, there were 3 coal train carriages that derailed at this ERT station due to the driver’s negligence. Then, flood inundated this ERT station again on January, 17th, 2013, causing train travel to be disrupted.
