Tawang Jaya Train
Tawang Jaya Train is the leading service of the Economy class trains operating under the management of PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operation Area 4 Semarang. The train has been in service for more than 20 years, running the Semarang-Jakarta route. The train specifically connects the two cities through the main stations: Semarang Poncol Station and Pasar Senen Station.
In serving the round trip between Semarang and Jakarta, Tawang Jaya Train stops at several main stations, i.e., Weleri Station, Pekalongan Station, Pemalang Station, Tegal Station, Brebes Station, Babakan Station, Cirebon Prujakan Station, and Haurgeulis Station. The train departing for Semarang also stops at Tanjung Station, Jatibarang Station, and Pegaden Baru Station. From the opposite direction, the train departing for Pasar Senen Station also stops at Bekasi Station.
As an economy class train, Tawang Jaya Train provides adequate facilities for passengers. The cars are equipped with air conditioners, and modern and clean toilets. LCD TV is also available to entertain passengers along the way. Each passenger car can accommodate up to 106 seats. The leather seats are made permanent, arranged facing each other. Separated by a corridor, the rows of seats are arranged in 3-2 configuration. Each passenger car is also equipped with electric plugs, small tables, and space for luggage above the passenger seat. Dining service is available at additional cost and can be ordered from the dining cart.
Tawang Jaya Train departs from Semarang Poncol Station at 13.15 pm, running for 7 hours to Jakarta. Taking this train, passengers will arrive at Pasar Senen Station at 20:10 pm. From the opposite direction, Tawang Jaya Train from Pasar Senen Station departs at night, i.e., at 23.00 pm. The night trip takes approximately 7 hours 15 minutes, so the train will arrive at Semarang Poncol Station at 06.15 am the next day. The ticket fares are available in flat rate, Rp120.000 per passenger.

The History of the train
Tawang Jaya Train started its operation on May 14, 1984 using a regular series consisting of seven Non-AC Economy passenger cars. On Ied celebration of 2012, PT KAI (Persero) remodeled and upgraded the train to economy class AC. It was not until April 2016 that the train started operating with a long series of cars, aiming to meet the high demands of passengers. The occupancy of Kawang Tawang Jaya has always been high, above 95% full every day.
The Long car series
Since April 4, 2016, PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) operated Tawang Jaya Train with a long series of cars. Tawang Jaya Train carries up to 14 units of passenger cars in each trip, which makes it one of two regular trains with the longest series belonging to PT KAI (Persero), second to the Kertajaya Train.
The train series
Running with CC206 locomotive, Tawang Jaya Train is capable of carrying up to 16 cars in a single trip. The series consists of 14 Economy passenger cars, one dining car, and one generator car. Some of the cars are taken from Tegal Arum Train which stopped operating since April 4, 2016.
