More Details Information of Wonogiri Train
Like many other trains, the Wonogiri Railway has quite an interesting history. Wonogiri Station (WNG), located in Giripurwo, Wonogiri, has an elevation of +144 m in Yogyakarta's Operating Region VI. The only passenger train that operates at this station is the Railbus Batara Kresna. Since the closure of the route to Baturetno on May 1, 1978 due to the construction of the Gajah Mungkur Dam, Wonogiri Station automatically became the last station on the Purwosari-Wonogiri crossing.
Although the tracks to the south still exist, they only stop at the edge of the reservoir. The plan is to reactivate the railroad line to Baturetno, but only up to the dam, for tourism purposes. The station used to have a locomotive dipo which has now been turned into a mosque. Currently, Wonogiri Station serves as a terminus station for the Bathara Kresna Railbus that serves the Solo Purwosari - Wonogiri round-trip route.
In its development, this train continues to evolve to create better services for the community. The train consists of various classes that can be selected to meet the needs of passengers with various preferences.
