Hotels near Kampung Kuantan Firefly Park

Kampung Kuantan is located approximately 9 km from Kuala Selangor town, is known for the place where the fireflies ( or Kelip-kelip in Bahasa Malaysia) nestle. Also known 'Lightning Bugs', fireflies shine brightly at the night to attract a suitable partner. They dwell along Sg Selangor river banks, on the mangrove tree species called berembang or its scientific name is Sonneratia Casolaris. It is said that this is one of the biggest firefly colonies in the world. Visitors get to enjoy the boat ride along the river banks while watching colonies of fireflies producing magnificent twinkling lights. There is a chartered boat service at the jetty of Kampung Kuantan for these nocturnal tours. The tour starts from sundown at 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm. Each boat can accomodate 4 passengers and cost RM 40 (per boat). The fee include a drink and a packet of local snacks. Taking photo is prohibited in order not to disturb the glowing bugs. From Kuala Lumpur city, to get here by car, take KL - Kuala Selangor Expressway (Latar). The drive will take approximately 40 minutes. Alternatively, you could consider taking the bus from Pudu Sentral (nearby Chinatown in Kuala Lumpur). Fireflies Park is definetely one of the must visit place of interest in Malaysia.

Pantai Redang, Sekinchan

This beach is famous for its majestic sunset view. Located about 25 km from Firefly Park, there are so much fun activities that can be enjoyed here. Some of the highlights are making wishes upon a wishing tree, enjoying succulent and fresh seafood galore at affordable prices, flying kites and taking great photos with scenic setting. Also, there is fishing village called Bagan Fishing Village where you can buy various dried, salted fish, shrimp and cuttlefish as souvenirs.

Genting Highlands

Tucked at the top of a hill, Genting Highlands is about 40 km from Firefly Park. Due to its fabulous upper position and lush greenary environment, this place has a very cool temperature and a marvellous mountainous setting. Genting Highlands provides endless excitement for both kids and adults with its indoor, outdoor and water theme parks that offer a wide array of fun rides and games. There is the First World Plaza, which is featured with high end brands of boutique outlets, fast food restaurants as well as fine dine. Genting is also famous for its only legal gambling outfit in Malaysia which is very well known as mini Las Vegas. Currently closed for upgrades, the theme parks are estimated to be reopened soon in 2017 with a refreshing theme.
