The biggest botanical garden in Malaysia, the Putrajaya Botanical Garden is located at the northern section of Presint 1 which covers an area over 92 hectares. The garden is divided into 5 different themes. They are the Explorer's Trail, Palm Hill, Floral Gardens, Sun Garden and the Lakeside. The garden currently has more than 700 species of flowering plants, local plants as well as plants from the Asia-Pacific and Africa regions. The area also serves as a research centre with the huge collection and exotic flowers, and educationists also able to see many species of plants at the research centre. Other features of the park include the park include the Explorer's Trail, Canopy Bridge, Heliconea Trail and Vine Garden, Palm Hill, Sun Garden (Orchid Path), Floral Garden (Floral Steps, African Collection, Tropical African Collection, Bougainvillea Tunnel, Asia Pacific Collection, Ficus Shace, Rain shelter) and Lakeside (Hibiscus Walk), Lakeside café, Pandanus Walk, Canna Walk and Fern Garden. Botani Garden is open to the public from 9.00 am to 7.00pm daily while the interactive exhibition in the main building is open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 10.00 am to 6.30 pm.
This place is around 25 kilometres (30 minutes) from Kuala Lumpur and 20 kilometres north of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). You can take the Express Railway (ERL), car, taxi or bus to destinations in Putrajaya. If you intend to come by bus, take the Cityliner bus 868 from Sinar Kota, Kuala Lumpur to Putrajaya. The fare is around RM2.60 and it operates from 6:30am to 10pm at night. There are also bus which is called Nadi Putra bus for passengers to reach this place.
