Lake Hotel Gistihusid Egisstadir was night 6 for us on our journey around Iceland’s famous ring road. This hotel was seemed a little out of the way but perfectly placed for our itinerary. There was an on-site restaurant, and many groups stayed for the night. The atmosphere was vibrant, and the guests all seemed very happy. We stayed in a ground-floor room that overlooked the countryside. It was remote and peaceful. We had a lovely evening here.

Welcoming and cozy lobby and sitting area. Rooms were cute and comfortable with beautiful view of lake. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious with great service! Breakfast buffet had many choices and very good food! Highly recommend!

Stately hotel in a beautiful location on the lake. Clean, comfortable and quiet.
Don't miss the restaurant on site, the meals were truly the best we had in Iceland!

This was the most disappointing hotel of our 10 night road trip. The outside smells like cow sh*t when you drive up. The people were nice, but our room was dirty and smelled like sulfur in the morning. Would not recommend.

We loved the place. Excellent service. The staff is very friendly. The hotel it looks like a castle. Our room had an amazing view of the lake. The restaurant is a plus. I’ve heard is one of the best restaurants in town. The continental breakfast was delicious and with a lot of options. Totally recommend it.

My room smelled like the inside of a barn. The bed wasn't comfortable at all. The shower head needs to be cleaned so the water sprays down instead of all over the place. Breakfast wasn't great. They were out of several items, like eggs 5 minutes after breakfast started. Overall wasn't impressed.

Hier habe ich mich richtig wohlgefühlt. Schade, dass ich nur eine Nacht geblieben bin, denn hier hätte ich es noch länger ausgehalten.
Einzelzimmer war sehr geräumig, alles renoviert und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Das Personal war sehr freundlich, das Essen im Restaurant absolut empfehlenswert.
Parkplätze gab es ausreichend und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sogar zu Fuß sehr gut erreichbar.
