Historic Inn that’s popular with the locals. Like most historic properties they could use some modern amenities like USB ports,etc. For added fun book the Haunted room #40. We stayed in that room for one night but didn’t see any spirits, only the liquid kind. ~ Jim

This is a historic Inn, with lovely grounds and a nearby historic village that transports you into the past! This place was quaint, and there are always weddings happening every time we go. The Tavern is nice also, if a bit pricy. We stop in to their Bake Shoppe for the lemon cream cake whenever we drive through 😊

Directly outside our bedroom window were several exhaust fans for the property's restaurant kitchen. The fans were extremely loud and vibrated through the wall and headboard! We were told that the fans would stop running at 7:00pm. However, there was also a function that evening and they ran for several more hours. Additionally, we could hear the music from the function loud and clear. Given the laughing and singing, it was great time! Later we awoke to banging and loud noises that we assume were from the clean-up crew. The room was fine and we really wanted to enjoy our stay but it's very difficult to do with all the noises and three hours sleep.

Have stayed frequently on trips between Maine and NY. As always, friendly and clean. Great baked goods and coffee in the morning for guests.
Rooms are not modern if that is a concern.

This was our second visit to Publick House and we stayed at the Chamberlain House and was given a nice room with a comfortable bed, actually was a suite. Plan to book again when we visit Massachusetts.

We stayed in the motor lodge portion of the property. It was very affordable. The grounds are really nice and we enjoyed dinner in the tavern as well as drinks later on in the evening. It has such a wonderful colonial New England feeling we absolutely loved the atmosphere. (We were in the lower level.)The bake shop was a wonderful spot to hang out for coffee and pastries complementary in the morning. Our overall experience exceeded our expectations and we would stay there again for sure.

The epitome of an old historic Inn, however buildings are very well maintained. Great cozy restaurant and bar in main building with great staff. Check out the bakery as well!!
