You may take ETS train to Butterworth train station. Trains leave from Kuala Lumpur's KL Sentral Railway Station and arrive at Penang's Butterworth Railway Station on the mainland, just 15 minutes away by ferry to George Town on Penang Island. There are many new condominiums, the most recent housing estates are under construction in the area. The main road through Bayan Lepas is Jalan Bayan Lepas, formerly simply known as Main Road. It is part of Federal Route 6. In the mid-1970's the new township of Bayan Baru was created, and has since become a major suburb of a greater Penang metropolitan area.

You can take Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Malindo Air flight to Penang International Airport where the flights fly to Penang regularly. Once you reach airport you may take taxi or bus to go to any part of Bayan Lepas main attractions.

You can drive to Bayan Lepas via the Second Penang Bridge and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. If you travel from Kuala Lumpur you may use North-South Expressway to reach Bayan Lepas. The journey from Kuala Lumpur takes 3 hours 37 minutes’ drive away.

Fisheries Research Institute (FRI Aquarium Batu Maung)

Fisheries Research Institute is one of top tourist attraction in Bayan Lepas that you shouldn’t miss. The aquarium has 25 fish tanks in its darkened aquarium area where you can catch some pretty exotic species live here such as the moray eel, the lionfish and the giant catfish. For indoor aquarium is an open-air garden housing a koi and carp pond, a turtle pool and some tanks containing invertebrates such as starfish and anemones.

Snake Temple

The Penang Snake Temple is about 3 km from the airport in Sungai Kluang, Bayan Lepas. The temple is said to be the only Chinese temple in the world to be inhabited by snakes. Built in the 1850s, it has attracted species of pit vipers, which are believed to be rendered harmless by the incense. The temple is also a focal point of the annual Chinese New Year celebrations, during which a flame-watching ceremony is held to predict the fortunes of the following 12 months.
