Staff very professional

Offered us an upgrade, but faced the plaza. Very noisy with trams stoping/departing most of the day and night. Wasn't aware

Loved this stay. The breakfast buffet is amazing and the staff was very informative about restaurant and helpful in making reservations. Bonus, the tram runs right by the hotel and in addition to flavored water in the lobby there was a small selection of Haribo gummies, so yummy!

This hotel is awesome! It was roomy for the three of us and very comfortable. I love how it was walking distance to the Christmas markets as well as so many other things!

Stayed in the junior suite and had breakfast included. Great spacious room. Buffet breakfast had it all including omelette and fried egg options. My only complaint was the trams run all night and are loud. Sometimes difficult sleeping.

The hotel is nice and clean, close to tourist attractions, shopping, dining and transportation. The staff are also very professional and accommodating. Thanks!

Amazing and very helpful staff! Very professional, very polite and ready to help with everything. Stay in this hotel third time, room was in the first floor and was very noisy and loud outside. But this is Christmas! People outside are celebrating!

It was good

Fabulous place to stay while in Basel. The location is centrally located. The bed was probably one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on for a hotel. The bed linens and bath towels were a very nice quality. The breakfast was delicious.

The location was great!

The location was ideal! Next to a square with a farmer's market, a local pharmacy and grocery market was across the street in different directions. Easy walking to many sites, but also right on the trolly/tram line. We were able to easily walk to the two Christmas markets in town. The room was spacious, and the bathroom was large. I would absolutely stay at this location again on a future visit.

Multi lingual staff was a major benefit and the accompanying Basel Card was extremely useful. Nice pillows (they matter) and an up to date appointed room.

Wonderful hotel

Great property and facilities. Well location in the center of the old city. Some construction out front and street car noise.

The location of Hotel Marthof was perfect for what we were looking for in our 24 hour stay in Basel. We were able to walk to all the Christmas Markets and boutique shops in the area. And when we were finished at the end of the day there was a nice hot sauna and steam room to warm us. The Bohemia restaurant next door was very convenient in the evening when we didn’t want to head back out into the cold. There are two reasons I did not give five stars overall: 1. There are three steps which lead down from the bedroom area to the bathroom area and at night this can be treacherous. The hotel has installed a motion sensor light on the stairs but you have to trigger that just right when you are coming down from the top versus going up from the bottom. 2. Our room was very noisy. I understand it’s in the city but I think if we had been on the other side of the building (where there were no train tracks in the street) we wouldn’t have as readily heard the train squealing all night as we were trying to sleep. Ear plugs were of minimal help.

Excellent location. Walking distance to all the shops and Christmas markets. Steam room was a welcome delight after a day in the cold.

Great location with convenient access to the tram. Plenty of shops nearby and only 10 min to the train station
