My wife and I had a great time at the Plaza. The only thing we noticed that would make a big difference is the bedding (sheets & covers) and mattress should be better quality, softer and much less crinkly. The staff was great, called you by last name and was attentive to our needs/wants.

The bicycle vendors outside the front entrance are horrendously nasty, hounding you and just degrading that wonderful property. They need to get those bicycle vendors out of there.

If you are not white or dressed in expensive clothing, you are stopped and required to show reservations, while the privileged are merely asked if they have them. This creates a stark double standard. The guards behavior toward certain individuals feels almost like harassment, making the experience very uncomfortable and intimidating. The sight of numerous rude security personnel outside the hotel only added to the unease every time we try to enter the hotel. It was the worst part of our Christmas, and we will never return. While it’s understandable that the hotel wants to limit entry to guests, the enforcement of this policy feels discriminatory and inconsistent, seemingly based on appearance and race rather than fair application to all.

The rooms are rundown they need to be properly taking care of The restaurant Café the service is horrible. Had to wait 45 minutes to get water and a cup of hot tea. They roll their eyes if you ask to do any changes to what you’re ordering overall they have a very horrible attitude for $2500 a night they should be very accommodating and be delighted that you’re staying at the property. Complete rip off not worth the money overrated and will not be going back. i’ve stayed there multiple times over the years every time I go I say I’m not going back and then I give in and stay and this time will be my last time. Way of a price and rundown property.

Overall I did not feel like it was worth the price. Yes, this is an iconic hotel and the rooms were nice and most staff was nice. Food was excellent but was on par with this class of hotel, not above it. The carpeting in the hotel had stains all over it, furniture was chipped in the room, no floor length mirror, only one chair in the room (room had two beds), no coffee maker in the room. The biggest complaint I have is the doormen out front. They would only let guests through the door, which is understandable. However, when I identified myself as a guest that should have been enough, but some of the doormen would ask for a room key to prove my guest status which was over the top and made me feel unwelcome like they didn’t believe that I was a guest. This could have been handled much better. I expected more from a hotel with this reputation.
