About Putra World Trade Centre

Putra World Trade Centre or PWTC is a large and prestigious exhibition centre acts as a place to host variety of events such as local, regional and international exhibition, wedding and travel expos, trade shows and concert, even official international meetings. The construction of this centre commenced in 1981 and was completed in 1984. The building was officially opened on 2 September 1985, by the then Malaysian Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad during the first UMNO General Assembly, and has been a staging area for following UMNO General Assemblies since.


It is known for its comprehensive facilities and large space of more than 250,000 square feet for the main exhibition halls, with many smaller halls for various occasions. Among the many prestigious events held here was the Commonwealths Heads of Government Meeting back in 1989 and annual UMNO convention. Besides that, there are many events such as Malaysia Technology Expo, Malaysia Furniture Fair and Robotic Asia.


PWTC is located in the Chow Kit/Jalan Putra ward in the north-western corner of downtown Kuala Lumpur. It is next to Jalan Putra's interchange with Jalan Tun Ismail and is within walking distance of several hotels such as the Seri Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Sunway Putra Hotel, Dynasty Hotel Kuala Lumpur, and Sheraton Imperial Hotel Kuala Lumpur.


How to Get There

By Car

From Kuala Lumpur city centre, it takes only 9 minutes to Putra World Trade Centre by using Damansara road and Sultan Iskandar highway.


By Train

Getting to PWTC is very convenient as there are railway stations nearby, which is the PWTC LRT station on the Ampang Line, and the Putra Komuter station.

KL Tower

KL tower is a communications tower located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Its construction was completed on 1 March 1995 and features an antenna that increases its height to 421 metres (1,381 feet) and is the 7th tallest freestanding tower in the world. After installation of facilities and amenities, Kuala Lumpur tower was opened to public on 23 July 1996. Menara Kuala Lumpur was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on 1 October 1996 at 20:30 MST. Among the distinguished guests were the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Jaafar ibni Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Najihah, the wives of the Sultan of Brunei, Sultana Hajah Saleha and Princess Hajah Mariam Binti Abdul Aziz . The tower also has an elevator to reach the upper area composed of top-class restaurant providing diners with a panoramic view of the city.


Sunway Putra Mall

The shopping complex known as "The Mall" was built by Metroplex Holdings Sdn. Bhd and opened on 12 June 1987 by Mahathir bin Mohamad. It is situated across the street from the Putra World Trade Centre and the Seri Pacific Hotel. The Mall was the largest shopping centre in Malaysia and was built to attract more shoppers from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. It was built at cost of RM289 million and the complex once had Malaysia's first Yaohan store which operated from the mall's opening in 1987 until 1997 before its bankruptcy in Japan. In March 2011, Putra Place, which consists of The Mall, Legend Hotel (now known as Sunway Putra Hotel) and an office block, was acquired by Sunway REIT under Sunway Group for RM513.94 million in a public auction and they spent RM307 million in refurbishment costs. The refurbishment started in May 2013 and reopened as "Sunway Putra Mall" on 28 May 2015. This mall has inspiration as an urban-chic lifestyle mall and houses 300 outlets.

Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur is located opposite Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) within the city’s main attractions. Premiera Hotel Kuala Lumpur is nestled nearby Maju Junction Mall, Campbell Complex and Sogo Shopping Mall. The hotel is also only 15-minute walk from Dataran Merdeka and a 50-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur International Airport. All non-smoking rooms at Premiera Hotel feature a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a personal safe and a wardrobe as well as ironing facilities and an electric kettle. The en suite bathroom comes with a hairdryer and complimentary toiletries. Besides that, the staff at the 24-hour reception can assist with luggage storage and concierge services, as well as the use of meeting facilities.
